Construction started in 1882, but the main building activities took place between 1904 and 1912. Saint Alexander Nevsky (1220 - 1263) was a Russian prince. The cathedral was created in honour of the Russian soldiers who died during the Russo-Ottoman War of 1877 - 1878. The photograph was taken from "St. Cyril and St. Methodius" National Library.
