<dc:description>Crafts Initiative for Georgia is Georgian Arts and Culture (GACC) ongoing program implemented in the framework of two EU funded projects, launched in 2012. The Initiative, having an unprecedented scope for Georgia, targeted Crafts sector with the aim to support safeguarding of intangible cultural heritage providing the wide range of activities from revival of crafts traditions in danger through training, marketing support or raising crafts sectors profile amongst the wider audiences. With targeted trainings as a core, the initiative included the wide range of other activities, which altogether made crafts trainings more efficient in terms of audience engagement and direct need drawn approach. Underlining craft economic dimension, project makes an important contribution to transforming culture into a source for economic and social development, whereas making stress on craft skill transmission from generation to generation it enriches Georgia's and at the same time Europe's cultural diversity. </dc:description>

<dc:description>Jury Citation: “This international training programme, supported by EU funds, has unprecedented scope for Georgia. Its wide range of activities is impressive with a focus on the revival of crafts and the establishment of successful business models for the continuation of crafts”.
“With a strong emphasis on the transmission of skills from one generation to another, this project has harnessed Georgia’s traditions to contribute to economic and social development across the country, including in communities of religious and ethnic minorities and in rural mountainous areas. These efforts put culture at the centre of this vital progress and establish its role in creating sustainable economic enterprise”.</dc:description>
