                    <dc:description>The projects were considered under the following headings:
- The restoration of historic buildings: Cathedral Precinct, King Street, Upper Floors, The Rows, City Walls
- The contribution made by new buildings: Bus Exchange, Chester District Library
- The role of archaeology: redevelopment has provided opportunities for archaeological investigations. Sites: new library, bus exchange, City Walls, Watergate Street, the Rows, Northgate Street
- Traffic management in the city centre: in order to reduce the volume of traffic in the main shopping and tourist streets, reducing consequently the impact of buses in the area, especially in the Town Hall Square and near the Cathedral.
- The creation of pedestrian spaces: the aim was to make the four major historic streets in Chester, radiating from the Cross, more available to the pedestrian and less accessible to motor vehicles. The six phases of pedestrianization and landscaping began in 1982. They have enhanced the historic character of Chester's rich and varied architectural heritage.</dc:description>
