                    <dc:description>EI Gran Teatre del Liceu, es uno de los simbolos mas emblematicos de Barcelona, y forma parte de Ia historia, asi como de Ia identidad cultural , artistica y social de Ia Ciudad Condal. Asi mismo, Ia proyección del teatro barcelones adquiere una dimensión de referente operistico del Estado espanol, como cuna de las artes y centro cultural de gran prestigio internacional. EI Proyecto de Reconstrucción y Ampliación del Gran Teatre del Liceu es el resultado de una antigua inquietud pero tambien de una necesidad urgente. La decisión sobre el lugar de efectuarla fue obvia, en el mismo espacio que desde 1847 ocupa el Teatro del Liceo, en las Ramblas de Barcelona, pero dando respuesta a Ia necesidad de disponer de un espacio mucho mas amplio para levantar el nuevo teatro. Gracias al Plan Especial elaborado y aprobado por el Ayuntamiento de Barcelona se consiguió multiplicar por tres Ia superficie disponible pasando de un edificio privado de unos 12.000 m2 utilesa uno publico de casi 32.000 m2 utiles. EI Proyecto de Reconstrucción y Ampliaci6n contempla dos areas de intervención bien diferenciadas: Area de Publico y Area de Escena.
