The fast degradation of this historic area through commercial usage and migration of the local population prompted plans to restore certain buildings and bring them in line with modern-day living requirements, within the context of a revitalization program of the area. Now the restored Kasseler Schlagd has achieved a pleasing link between the waterfront-buildings and the Fulda.
