                    <dc:description>The most unspoiled vernacular architectural heritage of the region distinguishes the town of Rimetea as an outstanding place among the settlements of Transylvania. In Rimetea there are more than 200 traditional dwelling houses, 2/3 of all buildings. The Rimetea Heritage Conservation project was launched by the Transylvania Trust Foundation in 1996. Based on conservation agreements, conservation aid is provided for the owners of 138 buildings in Rimetea, if they maintain and conserve the architectural values of 1 their proprieties. Restoralion aid is used to carry out restoration, professional consulting, planning and survey tasks on buildings that are selected following the application of the owners. Continuous research activity represents the basis of the conservation programme. Coordinated by the Transylvania Trust Foundation, the maintenance, conservation and restoration works were carried out on 118 historic buildings in Rimetea between 1996-1999.
