                    <dc:description>One of the oldest railway Lines in Germany was built by the "Köln-Mindener Eisenbahn-Gesellschaft" and finished in 1847. Despite the First World War, the station was relocated and the present edifice built. The official opening was in 1920. The design and concept are clearly influenced by baroque palace architecture. During the 1980s, the building was modernised in the spirit of the times. ln 1998 the station building was supposed to be modestly restored. Since the building was included in the project "Internationale Bauausstellung Emscherpark", which made financial support available, a more extensive restoration could be planned and carried out. </dc:description>
