<dc:description>The project Wonders of Venice was developed from September 2012 to September 2014 and aimed at valorising ancient art and cultural heritage collections in Venice St. Mark's area through new technologies usage. It mainly aimed at allowing general public to access unique cultural assets through modern technologies guaranteeing quality and scientific rigor in valorisation activity. The starting point of the project is a cataloguing activity of single assets carried out both before the project and during it; afterwards, several project actions were planned thanks to Veneto Region personnel and external experts (archaeologists, computer scientists, specialists and administrative personnel); finally, there was the realization carried out by a company supported by experts of institutions involved in the project. Final results consist in web portal realization in 9 languages, 389 virtual objects, 238 3D surface model objects; 29 virtual tours, interactive deconstruction/ reconstruction of St. Mark's Lion, 1 clip, around 20 backstage videos.</dc:description>

<dc:description>Jury Citation: "The Jury were most impressed with this digitization project. Through a multi-lingual platform (10 languages), it is accessible on a wide range of media. It impacts on both promotional events and research, and will be useful to both expert and tourist alike. The challenges of complexity, the distinction between the real and the virtual, and a mix of academic disciplines and range of objects, are all successfully resolved in this highly commendable and valuable project."</dc:description>
